God's Grace Needed to Polish Us

Therefore you shall not oppress one another, but you shall fear your God; for I am the Lord your God. Leviticus 25:17, NKJV.
You are in danger of making grave mistakes in your business transactions. God warns you to be on your guard lest you indulge a spirit of crowding one another. Be careful not to cultivate the sharper's tact, for this will not stand the test of the day of God. Shrewdness and close calculation are needed, for you have all classes to deal with.... But let not these traits become a ruling power. Under proper control, they are essential elements in the character; and if you keep the fear of God before you, and His love in the heart, you will be safe.
It is far better to yield some advantages that might be gained than to cultivate an avaricious spirit and thus make it a law of nature. Petty sharpness is unworthy of a Christian. We have been separated from the world by the great cleaver of truth. Our wrong traits of character are not always visible to ourselves, although they may be very apparent to others. But time and circumstances will surely prove us and bring to light the gold of character or discover the baser metal....
Every base thought, every wrong action, reveals some defect in the character. These rugged traits must be brought under the chisel and hammer in God's great workshop, and the grace of God must smooth and polish before we can be fitted for a place in the glorious temple.
God can make these [leaders in our church institutions] more precious than fine gold, even the golden wedge of Ophir, if they will yield themselves to His transforming hand. They should be determined to make the noblest use of every faculty and every opportunity. The Word of God should be their study and their guide in deciding what is the highest and best in all cases....
The weakest follower of Christ has entered into alliance with infinite power. In many cases God can do little with men and women of learning because they feel no need of leaning upon Him who is the Source of all wisdom; therefore, after a trial, He sets them aside for people of inferior talent who have learned to rely upon Him, whose souls are fortified by goodness, truth, and unwavering fidelity, and who will not stoop to anything that will leave a stain upon the conscience.--Testimonies for the Church 4:540, 541.

Imitate Jesus and His Ethics

Let each of you look out not only for his own interests, but also for the interests of others. Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus. Philippians 2:4, 5, NKJV.
The ethics inculcated by the gospel acknowledge no standard but the perfection of God's mind, God's will. God requires from His creatures conformity to His will. Imperfection of character is sin, and sin is the transgression of the law. All righteous attributes of character dwell in God as a perfect, harmonious whole. All those who receive Christ as their personal Savior are privileged to possess these attributes. This is the science of holiness.
How glorious are the possibilities set before the fallen race! Through His Son, God has revealed the excellency to which human beings are capable of attaining. Through the merits of Christ, they are lifted from their depraved state, purified, and made more precious than the golden wedge of Ophir. It is possible for them to become companions of the angels in glory, and to reflect the image of Jesus Christ, shining even in the bright splendor of the eternal throne. It is their privilege to have faith that through the power of Christ they shall be made immortal. Yet how seldom they realize to what heights they could attain if they would allow God to direct their every step!
God permits every human being to exercise individuality. He desires no one to submerge his or her mind in the mind of a fellow mortal. Those who desire to be transformed in mind and character are not to look to others, but to the divine Example. .. .
As our Example we have One who is all and in all, the chiefest among ten thousand, One whose excellency is beyond comparison. He graciously adapted His life for universal imitation. United in Christ were wealth and poverty; majesty and abasement; unlimited power, and meekness and lowliness which in every soul who receives Him will be reflected. In Him, through the qualities and powers of the human mind, the wisdom of the greatest Teacher the world has ever known was revealed.--The Signs of the Times, September 3, 1902.

Healthy Home Tour

to find out if your home is a healthy one and toxin free. Each year, over 1 million children are accidentally poisoned in their homes. 250,000 of these victims are hospitalized. 3,000 children will end up in intensive care. Dozens more will die. Thousands of children and adults are permanently disfigured or injured through contact with chemicals in the home, each year. The amazing fact is, the most common substance to poison children is a household cleaner. Many of these products are considered safe! Think of your own home - you probably have dozens of bottles of cleaners, containing hundreds of chemicals. Could an accident happen in your home? Find out today by taking a Tour of Our House.

Could our homes be toxic waste dumps? part 3

Many hand lotions and shampoos contain toxic chemicals that pose danger to unborn children
• Scientists at The University of Pittsburgh have indicated that some unborn babies could be at risk from shampoos and hand lotions containing Methylisothiazoline if their mothers use them during pregnancy.
• Methylisothiazoline (Mit) is a common ingredient in many shampoos and hand lotions.
• Researchers found that the chemical undermined the growth of structures in the immature nerve cells of unborn rats.
• The researchers believe Methylisothiazoline might also affect the developing nervous system of unborn humans.
• Team leader, Prof. Elias Aizenman, said more research needs to be carried out.
• This chemical is being used more and more extensively, yet there have been no neurotoxicity studies in humans to indicate what kind and at what level exposure is safe.

Could our homes be toxic waste dumps? part 2

READ LABELS
• Anything ending in “-cide” is a long lasting chemical.
• New carpet in your home or workplace might be making you sick because of the glue used to put it down. This substance, contains the human carcinogen benzene and xylene (a neurotoxin) which is one of the unhealthiest chemical combinations you can be exposed to.
• Toilet-cleaning crystals off-gas chlorine, a carcinogenic chlorine gas.
• Showers also present a little-known, yet very high, risk of chlorine exposure through inhalation of chlorine gas released from hot water treated with the potential carcinogen. If there is asbestos or lead plumbing parts those particles become airborne too.
• Researchers that have found that the chemical triclosan, which is found in many antimicrobial soaps and toothpaste products, can react with chlorine in the tap water. Guess what you get? (This is the horrifying part.) Chloroform. This is a toxic chemical that can give you cancer! If you and your kids are brushing your teeth with toothpaste that has triclosan in it, and you are rinsing with tap water that has chlorine in it, you are getting a little chemical reaction right in your mouth. Learn about “edible” dental products, for adults and kids.
Triclosan is put into these products for the convenience of the manufacturers. It will stop their product from going bad, and it allows them to make ridiculous claims on the label. For example, a label may say, “Proven to kill 99.99 percent of bacteria.” This sells products, yet it isn’t based on any kind of science whatsoever.
Researchers from the Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University tested 16 household products, including lotions, soaps and body washes. All the products containing triclosan, they produced either chloroform or other chlorine byproducts when exposed to tap water. They found that people using these products would be exposed to chloroform levels 40 percent higher than that found in tap water.
Triclosan, the leading germ-fighting compound in antimicrobial soaps, acts by destroying enzymes in bacteria cell walls so they cannot replicate; it targets the same enzyme as the antibiotic isoniazid, used to treat tuberculosis. There is a safer and better choice.
• In the United States, 75 percent of liquid soaps and nearly 30 percent of bar soaps now contain triclosan and other germ- fighting compounds, whose prevalence can foster the growth of bacterial resistance. Young Living has bar soaps that have therapeutic grade essential oils in them, they’re safe, smell fantastic, non-drying, and are long-lasting.
• Microbes on your countertop are not giving you the flu – we poison our bodies with toxic products, metabolic disrupters in the food supply and poor nutrition. These poisons create a weak body and weakened immune system, allowing opportunistic bacteria to replicate that wouldn’t stand a chance if we had a healthy immune defense in the first place. Those chemicals in those chemical products people buy are actually “depressing” their immune systems.
• There is NO science anywhere showing that a wood cutting board has any more harmful bacteria than a plastic cutting board. There are tests that have shown the natural oils in wood provide protection from many bacteria. So, buying and bringing those plastic cutting boards into our homes is a very bad mistake!
• Check to see if your “soft-gel” supplements contain “partially hydrogenated soybean oil” – many supplement companies use this as a filler to add bulk to their product. You can find it in vitamins and supplements in health food stores, grocery stores, price discount warehouse clubs, retailers and pharmacies all over the country and around the world right now. Hydrogenated oils are extremely toxic. We know that, long-term, they will lead to cardiovascular disease and heart attacks.

Could our homes be toxic waste dumps? Part 1

Some of you may have heard this… “women who do NOT work outside the home are 54% more likely to get cancer than those who work outside of their home.” This statistic makes me wonder… what are the numbers on “other” common conditions of today. Anyway you slice it, it’s not good.
This is a BIG wake-up call! It’s telling us very clearly that the personal care and cleaning products we bring into our homes and use are having a huge impact on our health. Imagine what it’s also doing to the health of our kids and pets!
Home pollutants can be broken down into three basic categories:
1. Small airborne particles. Lint, dust mites, human skin, pet dander, and mold spores. The danger with these is that their size enables them to get into our lungs, where they lodge themselves too deep to be coughed up.
2. Biological. These are bacteria and viruses which attach themselves to “airborne particles,” increasing the likelihood of lung infections. Mold is also in this category and, despite popular belief, mold is common even in dry climates because indoor humidity can be high even if outdoor air humidity is low.
3. Products. These include the products we “bring” into our homes in an attempt to improve the look and smell, and perform other actions (such as laundry and dryer sheets). Dryer sheets actually put petroleum and potentially dangerous artificial fragrances on clothes, and air fresheners also contain these fragrances, which may interfere with hormone communication systems. Learn how diffusing therapeutic grade essential oils can clear odors, germs, and make your house smell amazing!
Laundry washed in detergent loaded with chemicals and fragrance chemicals (YES, those brands claiming they’re all-natural with essential oils are not even real essential oils, they ARE fragrances and this is deceptive advertising due to the lack of government regulation). Then people run around in these clothes and sweat, which helps the toxicity absorb into the skin and bloodstream where it promotes cancer.
As consumers we need to start reading the ingredients in these products. Take a look at some better alternatives. http://realsuccess.healthyhometour.com/
